CYRCE: Caen University Campus for Cybersecurity

The CYRCE (Caen University Campus for Cybersecurity) is part of the Cybersecurity roadmap of the Call for Expressions of Interest (CEI) “Skills and Jobs of the Future”). As such, CYRCE is funded by the France 2030 project implemented by the French Government and managed the French National Research Agency (ANR).

A project in line with the National Strategy for Cybersecurity

The CYRCE project is part of the national acceleration strategy for Cybersecurity. This national plan aims at training of both young people and professionals for cybersecurity professions, according to three main objectives:

  • Significantly increase the number of technicians and computer scientists, both men and women, specializing in cybersecurity
  • Train non-specialists to address global cybersecurity challenges
  • Widely raise awareness of the issues of cybersecurity and encourage lasting good cyberhygiene practices within the population

A regional and national collaboration

To implement this project, the University of Caen Normandy coordinates a consortium of key actors from Caen and Normandy. The National Graduate School of Engineering of Caen (ENSICAEN) and the Regional Agency for Guidance and Professions (AROM) notably lead several training and communication actions. To support and guide the implementation as far as possible, the project also involves specialised national services (the Gendarmerie Nationale, the National Cybersecurity Agency of France the General Directorate for Internal Security…), associations from the digital sector and networks of Norman companies (such as the CMA, the Norman Chambre of Trades and Crafts

Concrete actions for cybersecurity for all

The CYRCE project thus offers a structured set of complementary and coordinated actions, aimed at meeting the training needs of companies and the territory at all levels. As a result, not only will experts be trained in different disciplines, mainly through work-study programmes (computer scientists, lawyers, managers), but also individuals already working in different fields, as well as trainers.

Innovating for a more inclusive and attractive sector

The entire project is based on a dynamic guidance strategy and on actions focused on the attractiveness and image of the sector among young people. The aim is to remove barriers and fight against preconceived ideas. CYRCE will rely on innovative measures and pay particular attention to communication targeted at a female audience.
